PESHAWAR: Eid Miladun Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) was celebrated across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with religious fervour on Friday. In addition to taking out well-attended processions, mosques, religious seminaries and government and private buildings were beautifully decorated as part of the celebrations.

Meanwhile, meetings and rallies continued in the province that condemned the publication of blasphemous caricatures in France.

In Peshawar, several processions were taken out from mosques wherein the participants recited Naats to express their love for Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). A large number of police personnel were deployed in the city areas to avert any untoward incident.

One of the main processions was brought out from Milad Chowk in the city.

The participants holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans in honour of the last Prophet walked through the traditional routes.

The procession passed through Hashtnagri, Karimpura, Ghanta Ghar, Chowk Yadgar, Peepal Mandi and Qissa Khwani and culminated at Khan Raziq Shaheed Chowk. In many areas, the people distributed free food and arranged cake cutting ceremonies to express their love for the Prophet.

Anti-France rallies held in KP

Other processions were taken out under the aegis of Idara Tableegh Islam in Peshawar city. One procession was observed on GT Road which ended at Gulbahar and others appeared from Faizan-i-Madina, Gulberg, and Wadpaga in the suburbs of Peshawar.

Meanwhile, people belonging to different organisations, including All Pakistan Bee Keepers, Honey Dealers Association and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prosecution Officers Welfare Association, held meetings and condemned the publication of blasphemous caricatures in France.

In their separate statements, the representatives of these organisations urged people to boycott French products to show their love for Prophet Muhammad.

They also urged the Ummah to take a unified stand against the countries patronising those involved in the blasphemous acts.

In Lower Dir, anti-France rallies continued for third consecutive day on Friday.

Hundreds of Jamaat-i-Islami activists along with locals came on roads after Friday prayers in Timergara, Munda, Chakdara and Lal Qila Maidan.

The demonstrators demanded of the government to announce complete boycott of French products and expel its ambassador from the country.

Carrying banners and placards, the protesters also chanted slogans against French President Emmanuel Macron. They also burnt Macron’s effigy and French flags at Munda and Timergara.

The Timergara rally was addressed by JI district chief Izazul Mulk, who announced a series of protest rallies in the district and said JI would continue its protest till the French government sought an apology.

In Mansehra, congregations and rallies were taken out to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi across Hazara division.

The participants on this occasion also demanded of the federal government to end diplomatic relations with the French government over blasphemous sketches.

The rallies were held in Mansehra, Torghar, Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan and Kolai-Palas districts.

“The French president’s remarks against Islam are highly condemnable,” JUI-F leader Mufti Kifaytullah told a rally.

Meanwhile, the Mansehra district administration provided free meal to hundreds of needy people on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi on Friday.
