KARACHI, Sept 28: Nine students were injured in a clash between members belonging to the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) and the All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organization (APMS0) in the premises of the Government City College, Gulberg, on Wednesday.

The IJT claimed that six of their members were injured when their rivals comprising 25 to 30 students attacked them within the premises of the college.

The IJT said that Ghufran, Sohail, Saad, Khurram, Asim and Umair had been injured and were taken to the JPMC for treatment.

The IJT also claimed that at the time of the incident both the SHO and TPO, Gulberg, were present but none of them bothered to intervene so as to avert the clash.

The All Pakistan Mohajir Students Organization (APMS0) claimed that three of their members were injured when students from the rival group attacked them.

The APMSO claimed that mainly outsiders belonging to their rival group attacked them with sticks and rods as a result of which Auzaja, Waqar and Mubashir were injured. They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

However, a duty officer of the Gulberg police station claimed that the matter was resolved by the SHO concerned and the students were sent back to their homes.

An FIR pertaining to the incident was not registered by the police who claimed that it was “a minor incident”.

SUICIDE: A middle-aged man committed suicide in Korangi late on Tuesday night.

Police said Mureed, 40, had an altercation with his wife over some domestic issue late on Tuesday night in Dumba Goth in Zaman Town police station limits.

Following arguments, Mureed walked out of his house and was later found hanging from a tree. Following the incident, police shifted the body to JPMC for legal formalities.

ACCIDENT: A young boy died in a road accident in the limits of Taimuria police station Wednesday.

Police said that 13-year-old unidentified boy was knocked down by a speeding bus of route 2-D near Gulberg Chowrangi.

He was taken to Abbasi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police have arrested the driver and impounded the bus.

ARRESTED: Police on Wednesday arrested three dacoits in Bahadurabad when they were fleeing from an apartment building after committing a robbery.

SHO Bahadurabad said they received an information from 15 that armed suspects have entered an apartment in Moosa Arcade in CP Berar Society.

A police party, headed by the SHO, rushed to the spot and arrested the fleeing suspects. Police recovered two pistols, a fake revolver, Rs8000 cash, gold bangles and two motorcycles.
