THE mysterious ‘Karachi incident’ involving the arrest and release of an opposition leader for violating the sanctity of the Quaid’s mausoleum is causing demoralisation within the national police force, and, indeed, the nation at large.

Instead of hiding behind words like inquiry, the culprits should be taken to task immediately to help the people comprehend the situation in its right perspective and come out of the shock that I that been in ever since the incident took place.

At the same time, I wonder why the allegedly victimised police officials and their colleagues, if they felt ridiculed and demoralised, didn’t tender their resignations for the sake of regaining their dignity instead of submitting applications for leave. I also wish to ask these police officials if they have ever felt ridiculed, humiliated and demoralised whenever their political bosses have used them?
