JILANI Park, formerly known as the Race Course Park, is one of Lahore’s famous parks and was built by former governor Ghulam Jilani Khan to encourage an active lifestyle and strengthen communities.

The park contains green spaces and two types of trails — rough and concrete — for walking or running.

Disappointingly, the Park and Horticulture Authority, Lahore, has recently reserved a considerable portion of the concrete trail for cycling. This restriction has affected the elderly and women who used to be regular visitors.

The area residents urge the government to build separate paths for cycling and walking so that everyone gets a chance of improving their physical and psychological health while maintaining physical distancing.
