Free power units

Published October 17, 2020

OVERBILLING of power consumers continues unabated. It is all about transmission and distribution losses, power theft, unrecovered bills, corruption, circular debt and bad management in the power distribution sector, and the citizens have to pay the price by paying exorbitant bills.

Then there are countless units which the serving and retired officials of Wapda and distribution companies are given free every month for which the consumer has to pay. This comes to hundreds of thousands of units consumed free by these serving and former employees.

This practice of doling out free electricity is totally unfair. With the cost of electricity being as high as it is, combined with the incompetence and corruption prevailing in the power generation and distribution sector, such practice should be stopped immediately.
