THE federal and Sindh governments need to do away with their sabre-rattling over the twin islands of Bundal and Buddo off the Karachi coast. Sindhi nationalist parties are also up in arms, painting it as a takeover of the islands by the Centre. One nationalist political party has already taken out a well-attended protest rally in Karachi, while others are ready to take out more rallies.
The political temperature is rising in the province and if the federal and Sindh governments continue to play politics on such sensitive issues, it would intensify the existing acrimony. If the development of the twin islands is in the interest of Sindh, things must move ahead, and in case the stated position of those belonging to the ruling party is not correct, all political parties and civil society must resist peacefully.
