KARACHI, Sept 26: Army maintained supremacy on Monday as they thrashed Habib Bank 83-47 to win the 45th National basketball championship in Attock for the 17th time in a row.

Internationals Pervez Hussain, Waheed Iqbal, Mahmood Nasir and Muhammad Ilyas displayed superb game for the winners.

Shooter Prevez contributed 30 points. Muhammad Ilyas made just eight points but he single-handedly tore apart the rivals’ defence by fine dribbling, swift movement, distribution and passing.

Army’s Muhammad Ilyas received the winners’ trophy while Muhammad Ashraf was handed the runners-up trophy.

In the play-off for the third place, Wapda defeated Railways 81-51.
