SC enrolls seven new advocates

ISLAMABAD, Jan 19: The Supreme Court on Saturday enrolled seven new advocates, after interview, to practice with it.

According to the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) the advocates registered with the Supreme Court included Raja Irfan Aziz from Rawalpindi, Muhammad Rashid Qamar from Islamabad, Syed Masood Ahmed from Islamabad, Syed Ishtiaq Haider from Islamabad, Syed Qalb-e- Hassan from Rawalpindi, Muhammad Amjad Malik from Attock and Muhammad Ilyas Sheikh from Rawalpindi.

PBC Enrolment Committee approved the enrolment of the advocates in a meeting presided over by Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, at Supreme Court Building here.

Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari and Rasheed A Razvi attended the meeting as members of the committee.

The committee took up 13 applications seeking enrolment as advocate of the Supreme Court, one for resumption of practice as an advocate of the Supreme Court and one for withdrawal of enrolment appeal.

Ameer Alam Khan, former Judge of the Lahore High Court, was resumed to practice as an advocate of the apex court.

An appeal of Farrah Jabeen Malik, resident of Rawalpindi, against decision of the Punjab Bar Council pertaining to her enrolment as an advocate on the basis of law degree from Al-Khair University was also considered.

The appellant, who was present in person, requested for withdrawal of her appeal which was allowed.—APP
