CM orders timely completion of uplift projects

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Wednesday directed the relevant authorities to ensure timely completion of the ongoing development projects in health and education sectors.

Chairing a meeting at the CM Secretariat, Mr Khan said that provision of environment conducive to learning and quality health services were among top priorities of the government.

He said that keeping public needs in view a realistic development strategy had been devised.

“Concrete steps would be taken for timely completion of all the ongoing projects,” he said, adding that the provincial government was committed to inaugurating mega projects to facilitate the people.

The chief minister said that the relevant department would be responsible for timely implementation of the projects reflected in the Annual Development Programme.

The meeting was informed that tehsil headquarter hospital, Matta, would be upgraded to category-B while civil work on the project would commence in November this year.

It was stated that for establishment of a paediatric hospital in Swat the land demarcation process was completed while PC-II of the project had already been approved and civil work would be started by December this year.

The meeting was told that a site had been identified for establishing an agriculture university in Swat and summary for land acquisition submitted to the relevant authorities while groundbreaking of the project would be made by January next year.

About establishment of the women university in Swat, the meeting was told that handing and taking over of land had been completed while civil work would be started soon.

The forum was informed that PC-II for establishment of dentistry college in Saidu Medical College was approved and a consultant for the project had been hired.

Similarly, a project director for setting up of university of engineering technology had been hired and civil work on the project will be started by December this year.
