Karachi Commissioner Sohail Rajput has directed administration officials to seal restaurants and marriage halls violating SOPs for at least three days in view of a spike in Covid-19 cases in the city.

At a meeting of district officials, Rajput was informed that virus cases rose "sharply" during the last week, while 365 cases were reported in Karachi during the past 24 hours alone, which was 60 per cent of the country's daily total.

He also directed deputy commissioners to ensure implementation of SOPs at public parks and ban visitors without a mask, and take action against schools and industries not following the requisite health guidelines.
