MANSEHRA: A local court on Sunday refused to extend physical remand of the suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl in Pakhwal area the other day.

“We requested the court to hand over the suspect to police for some more days, but he was sent on judicial remand,” DSP (Central) Bashir Khan told mediapersons following appearance of the suspect in the local court.

The suspect, Abdul Sattar, was presented before the magistrate on duty under tight security on completion of his three-day physical remand.

The grandfather of the victim girl had stated in the FIR lodged with the city police station that Abdul Sattar tricked his four-year-old granddaughter to the nearby agriculture fields and assaulted her.

The DSP said that DNA samples of both the suspect and victim had been sent to the laboratory for analysis.

FIRST SNOWFALL: Kaghan valley received the first snowfall of the season bringing chill in the weather on Sunday.

The snowfall, which started early in the morning continued intermittently for the entire day forcing the nomads and local settlers to move out of the valley to the winter destinations in lower parts of Mansehra district where they would stay for about six months.

The people in Batakundi and Gattidas areas of the valley had already harvested potato and pea crops expecting the snowfall in the valley and now they have started moving out of the area.

Zeeshan Adil told this scribe that Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad (MNJ) road was still open to traffic.

“If the ongoing snowfall continues for a day or more it might trigger the blockade of MNJ road to traffic in upper parts of the valley,” said Mr Adil. He said he was amazed that Kaghan valley received the first snowfall of the season the day (Sunday) when the entire international community was marking the World Tourism Day.

KILLED: A boy died after falling from a tree in Khanian area of Kaghan valley on Sunday.
