ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has suspended two officials over alleged neglect towards their duties and failure to remove encroachments from their areas.
“CDA is following zero tolerance policy against encroachments in Islamabad. Vigorous action is consistently underway against encroachments along with the officials found negligent towards their duties. On Friday, CDA suspended two officials of Enforcement Directorate - one inspector and one sub-inspector - found negligent towards their duties,” said a press release issued on Sunday.
Inspector Babar Sohail and Sub-Inspector Bilal Zafar from the Enforcement Directorate were suspended after CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed received information regarding encroachments in Chontra Village, E-10, following which show-cause notices were served to both the officials.
The CDA member estate had convened a meeting of relevant formations of the authority to oversee the ongoing drive against encroachments and chalk out a plan to further intensify the action. It was decided, during the meeting, that a massive operation will be launched against encroachments from Monday in Noorpur Shahaan and Chontra Village, hence, concerned formations from the CDA and ICT were busy demarcating land in both areas on Saturday and Sunday.
The CDA on Sunday carried out operations in G-7 and removed construction material, cement, bricks, welding material and allied items, the statement added.
