21 canals to be desilted in Multan

Published January 20, 2002

MULTAN, Jan 19: At least 0.7 million cubic feet silt will be removed from 21 canals of 70 miles length in the Multan district.

This was stated by Zila Nazim Shah Mehmood Qureshi while inaugurating a desiltation campaign on Saturday here at Makhdoom Rasheed.

He said the 70 per cent desiltation in the district would ensure smooth supply of water to farmers at tail-end. This would greatly help in enhancing the agriculture production, he said.

Farmers should organize the Pakistan Farms Association at union council level to get their demands met, he said.

The district government had allocated Rs8.1 million for free of cost availability of medicines and vaccines at eight veterinary hospitals, he added. — Nouman
