BEd teachers

Published September 24, 2020

THE education standard in Sindh is plummeting every year. But, unfortunately, no efforts have been made to point out the factors involved in this fall in education standards and to take remedial measures.

There are hundreds of thousands of students having a BEd degree, but they lack basics of teaching. A proper recruitment of teaching staff can bring a definite change and it can increase literacy rate too. For primary, junior elementary and high school teachers, there should be no requirement of a BEd degree.

Instead, there should be a special one-year training after appointment, which should be made on merit. This should be followed by professional training of the hired teachers.

This will create a healthy competition among candidates and be helpful in enhancing the literacy rate. The Sindh chief minister and the education minister should look into this issue and abolish the requirement of a BEd degree for the recruitment of teachers.
