BAHAWALNAGAR: The police have arrested an alleged serial rapist in Gulshan Iqbal Colony, Haroonabad, and also rescued a 10-year-old kidnapped child from his custody.

According to the city police, the 10-year-old son of a resident of Gulshan Colony, Haroonabad, went missing from outside. The police on being altered made a special police team for the safe recovery of the child. The team traced the captor within eight hours and arrested him in a quarter near the railway station.

The police said that during investigation the man confessed to kidnapping the child for rape. The police said the suspect was released after three years in prison for attempting to rape a child.

Also, the police arrested several wanted criminals and seized weapons and drugs from them. District Police Officer (DPO) Quddus Baig told a press conference Elite Force with other law enforcement agencies carried out a grand operation and arrested 53 wanted criminals. Of them, three are in the A category, whereas 37 were wanted and five were fugitives. The police conducted the operation in 21 different areas, which included slums, hotels, inns and other locations. He said during the operation, nine were arrested for possession of illegal weapons.

District Police Officer Baig said they also verified the identity of suspicious individuals through biometric devices and national identity cards.
