LAHORE: A ceremony was organised at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (Pilac) on Saturday to celebrate the art of folk singer Saieen Zahoor who has been award the President’s Pride of Performance award.

Speaking on the occasion, Pilac Director Asim Chaudhry said the award had been announced for Zahoor on the recommendation of Pilac. He said before this, Sayed Akhtar Jafri and Nasir Adeeb had also got the Pride of Performance on the recommendations of Pilac.

Pilac Director General Dr Sughra Sadaf said the institute was gearing up to hold cultural activities, which were halted due to the coronavirus. She said Pilac would also hold events with various celebrities from the performing arts. “The folk music studio at Pilac would also be revived where folk singers would perform,” she added.

Musician Tariq Tafu lauded Saieen Zahoor, saying he was a God-gifted singer who could spellbind audience with his singing.

other speakers also spoke high of the singer who had earlier won the BBC World Music Award.

Saieen Zahoor enthralled the audience with his famous songs, including Ki Janan Mein Kaun Bulhya and Ishq Nachaway Yar Tay Nachna Painda Aye.
