PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Friday allocated portfolios to two recently-inducted ministers and changed the departments of five cabinet members.

Shahram Khan Tarakai and Anwar Zeb took oath as ministers at the start of the current month but portfolios were not assigned to them.

On Friday, the administration department issued a notification, which said the government, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-rule 4 of Rule 3 of the KP Government Rules of Business, 1985, had assigned Shahram Khan Tarakai with the portfolio of elementary and secondary education.

Tarakai replaced Akbar Ayub Khan, who was given the charge of the local government and rural development department.

This is the third reshuffle of Mr Ayub’s portfolio. Previously, he was shunted from the communication and works department to the elementary and secondary education department.

Special assistant to the chief minister on local government Kamran Khan Bangash department was given the portfolio of higher education department.

He will continue to hold the additional charge of the information department.

Mr Bangash’s portfolio has been changed for the third time. Previously, he held the charge of the local government and science and information technology departments.

In the reshuffle, food minister Qalandar Khan Lodhi got the portfolio of revenue and estate and Anwar Zeb Zakat and Ushr’s.

Adviser to the chief minister on higher education Khaliqur Rehman was given the charge of the food department and special assistant to the chief minister on public health engineering Riaz Khan that of the communication and works department, which was previously held by the chief minister.
