RAWALPINDI: The Chaklala Cantonment Board (CCB) has announced a 50 percent cut in property tax as a relief for the residents in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to law, after every three years property tax is to be increased by 30pc for commercial property and by 20pc for domestic units. This was to be started from 2020.

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Station Commander Brig Ijaz Qamar Kiani directed the CCB to give relief to the residents and introduce a 50pc cut in the property tax for the fiscal year 2020-21.

The board will cut the property tax for commercial units from 30pc to 15pc and for domestic units from 20pc to 10pc.

A senior official of the CCB said the volume of the tax cut was expected to be in millions of rupees.

He said those who had submitted their property tax from July to September would also have the deduction in in their taxes.
