KARACHI: A 35-year-old man committed suicide in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday, according to police.

They added that Mustafa Mehboob ended his life by shooting himself at the residential quarter he was living in inside Aziz Bhatti Park.

New Town SHO Adeel Afzal said he was facing financial difficulties.

Fire in Sharea Faisal building

A fire broke out in the office of a chemical company in a multistorey building located on main Sharea Faisal on Monday.

Officials said the blaze erupted on the 14th floor of Al-Tejara building at around 1.28pm.

Two fire tenders and one snorkel managed to control the fire and rescued people at about 5pm.

Fire officials said computers and other office material were gutted.

They said an electric short-circuit might have caused the fire. No casualties were reported.

Guard killed

A young security guard was shot dead in Manghopir on Monday, according to police.

They added that Babar Mohammed, 25, was gunned down by another security guard, Qadir Bux, while performing their duty at a residential complex. The suspect was arrested and the murder weapon was also seized.

The police said initial investigations suggested the weapon went off “accidentally” during cleaning. However, the police were investigating the case.
