MARDAN: Police claimed to have arrested four members of an inter-district gang of robbers, wanted in various cases of robberies.
Addressing a press conference at his office here on Thursday, DPO Dr Zahidullah Khan said that they had received several complaints about incidents of robberies and looting of money at gunpoint from traders in the city and Sheikh Maltoon Town.
He added that those incidents spread a wave of fear and concerns among the local traders. The official said that he constituted different police teams under the supervision of DSP Inam Jan and DSP Shabir Ahmad to trace and arrest the accused involve in the incidents of robberies.
After hectic efforts, he claimed, the police teams succeeded to trace and arrest four members of a gang as well as recovered looted money and arms from them.
He said that they had recovered Rs1.2 million looted money and arms that were used in robberies.
He said that the arrested persons were identified as Roman, Shehzad, Usmanullah and Masud Shah. Dr Zahidullah said that all the arrested persons confessed to their crimes during preliminary interrogation.
