HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Division edged past Mirpurkhas 3-2 in a thrilling final to win the Defence Day Volleyball title here on Sunday.

The tournament was held under the auspices of Sindh Games Association (SGA).

Prolific spikers Saddam Hussain, who is also captain off Hyderabad team, and Azizullah were brilliant on the court and were cheered by the sizeable crowd who appreciated the closely fought final.

Later chief guest, Israr-ul-Hasan Abidi who is Secretary SGA, presented the winner’s trophy to Hyderabad. Speaking on the occasion, Israr praised the high standard of the tournament and said there is abundance of talent in Hyderabad and more such events should be held here.

He praised SGA President Mudassar Arain for his tremendous efforts for the promotion of sports and for holding the Sindh Games next month.

The chief organiser of the event was Amir Kifayat and Khaleeq-uz-Zaman. Also present on the occasion was Rehana Bhatti, President of Sports and Culture Federation in Hyderabad among other prominent personalities.
