KARACHI: A 53-year-old woman was found hanged in a Clifton area on Friday night, Boat Basin police said.

They added that the body of the woman — Ms Lana — was found in a bungalow in Block-5, Clifton. There were marks of rope on her neck.

The family claimed that she had committed suicide by hanging herself in the home over some unknown issues.

A police officer said that the victim was a nurse who attended to Farooq Dossa. When Mr Dossa’s wife died around 15 years ago, he married Ms Lana. Her husband was aged around 80 years, said the officer.

He said that they were waiting for doctors’ report to proceed further legally in the case.

Police surgeon Dr Qarar Ahmed Abbasi said that the woman’s body was brought to the JPMC at around 11.15pm on Friday and her post-mortem examination was carried out at 1am on Saturday.

Marks on her neck showed that she died from hanging. Apparently, there were no bruises on any part of her body, said Dr Abbasi.
