RAWALPINDI: Customs authorities at Islamabad International Airport (IIA) foiled an attempt to smuggle foreign currency out of the country and detained a passenger on Tuesday.

According to airport officials, the seizure was made when check-in of passengers travelling to Dubai was in progress. Customs authorities spotted a passenger waiting in lounge A2 to board the flight.

The staff recovered a large amount of foreign currency, including AED 45,000 and SAR 25,000 from his custody.
