KARACHI: Operation against land grabbers

Published September 22, 2005

KARACHI, Sept 21: The anti-encroachment cell of the city government has launched an operation against land-grabbers who were illegally occupying others’ plots in block 10 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar.

The plots, measuring 240, 400 and 600 square yards, in the Scheme-36 had been allotted through balloting/auction but the ‘land mafia’ had been occupying them. They have raised katcha or pucca houses on these plots worth millions of rupees.

Owners of these plots had been running from pillar to post for getting possession for years.

The In-charge Anti-Encroachment, District Officer Iqbal Qureshi, said that the operation had been launched on the directive of DCO Fazlur Rehman and EDO Revenue Hashim Raza. —APP
