KOHAT: Three people, including a man and his son, were killed and two others injured in ambushes in Gulu Bera and Gumbat areas on Monday.

Police said Farooq Shah and his son, Qasim Khan were going to their home in Malangabad on the KDA Township Road on a motorcycle when unknown armed men sitting near the roadside opened indiscriminate fire at them near Gulu Bera area, a few yards from the Jungle Khel police station. They died on the spot.

They said Farooq had shifted to Islamabad with his family forced by frequent property disputes with relatives.

In another incident, Malik Hashim Khan was killed and his colleagues, Nizam Khan and Mehrab Gul, were injured when burqa-clad attackers ambushed their car going to Nakband, area of Gumbat.

The bodies were shifted to KDA Teaching Hospital and rural health centre, Gumbat, and then handed over to relatives.

The killers in both the cases have fled.

Meanwhile, 40unregistered guests were booked along with seven hotelowners on Monday in the city.

The police teams also held 12 proclaimed offenders and detained 60 Afghan refugees during snap checking.

The police recovered 36 kilogrammes of hashish, 320 grams of ice, 300 grams of heroin, 10 shotguns, other weapons and explosives from the suspects arrested during the last four days.

POWER cuts flayed: The caretakers of all the three imambargahs here have assailed the Pesco over suspension of electricity supply after every half an hour despite the announcement that no loadshedding will be carried out till Ashura.

In a statement, they said power was being supplied to the bazaar and all three imambargahs from the same source, which needed to be bifurcated through separate lines to end menacing loadshedding.
