SUKKUR: Police arrested three members of an inter-provincial women’s gang of drug traffickers in an action near Jamali Wah in Jacobabad on Saturday and found 36 kilos high-quality cannabis in their possession.

SSP Tariq Nawaz told reporters that acting on a tip-off, Saddar police arrested three residents of Kuchlak, Balochistan, identified as Ms Rehana Pathan, Ms Gul Sama Pathan and Ms Zubeda Pathan, when they were waiting on the roadside for public transport.

He said that the three were members of an inter-provincial gang of women smugglers, who were bringing the huge quantity of high-quality cannabis from Balochistan into interior of Sindh.

He said that since police had been put on high alert, the women sensed danger, got down from the vehicle on which they were travelling and were waiting for some transport when the Saddar police arrested them.

He said that security had been tightened along Sindh-Balochistan border in Jacobabad where smugglers’ activities were being monitored closely. An FIR had been registered against the drug traffickers at Saddar police station, he added.
