WHILE endorsing the views of writer of the letter ‘Cleaning Karachi’ (Aug 10), let us realise the importance of placing garbage containers at short distances, enabling citizens to deposit their garbage.

At the moment, citizens conveniently throw wherever possible the garbage produced by homes, restaurants, commercial centres, shops, vegetable markets, etc. They will not do this if garbage bins are available.

The efforts of the National Disaster Management Authority for cleaning Karachi under the directives of the prime minister will go down the drain if citizens keep littering the city.
