LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan on Tuesday took notice of the murder of an accused outside a courtroom at the judicial complex and sought reports from the district and sessions judge and inspector general of police.

On the chief justice’s direction, LHC Registrar Bahadar Ali Khan wrote separate letters to the sessions judge and the IGP, directing them to furnish their reports within four days.

A man facing murder charge was gunned down the other day outside a courtroom at sessions court allegedly by the complainant in the case.

A footage of the close circuit TV cameras installed on the court premises released to the media showed the victim had just come out of the courtroom after hearing of his petition for pre-arrest bail when he was shot in the head by the assailant who escaped without any difficulty.

The victim, Nawaz, was nominated in a FIR registered by Shahdara police for allegedly killing his relative Javed over a property dispute.

After the incident, Capital City Police Officer Zulfiqar Hameed had visited the judicial complex and inspected the crime scene. He assured the Lahore Bar Association’s leaders of foolproof security arrangements at the district courts.
