KARACHI, Sept 19: A housewife was shot dead by unknown persons in Hijrat Colony on Monday. Police said that Zartaja Bibi, 25, wife of Mehboobur Rehman, was alone when some unidentified armed men barged into her house. They opened fire at her and escaped. Later, her body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

Police ruled out the possibility of a dacoity saying that there was nothing valuable in the house to take away.

Following the initial investigation, police believed personal enmity as a possible motive behind the killing.

BODY FOUND: The trussed-up body of an elderly man was found from his house in Block-6, Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday morning.

Police said that neighbours of the victim informed the police that stench was coming from his house. On this information, police reached at the spot and found the body of Yaqoob Mirza, 60. They said that there was an injury mark on the victim’s head. They shifted the body to JPMC for post-mortem examination.

According to the police, Yaqoob Mirza was issueless from his two marriages and used to live alone. He also owned a private school, police added.
