QUETTA: The deputy speaker of the Balochistan Assembly, amid uproar and an exchange of hot words between opposition and treasury benches on Friday, admitted an adjournment motion of the PkMAP’s Nasrullah Zerey for debate on clashes and firing at Pak-Afghan border in Chaman last week which had claimed six lives.

Moving the adjournment motion, Mr Zerey said that the people of Chaman had been protesting against the closure of the trade corridor at the border crossing for the last two months. “On July 30, the security forces opened fire on the protesting people leaving six of them, including a woman, dead and a large number of others injured.” He said that the house should discuss the issue.

Provincial Minister for Agriculture Zamrak Khan Piralizai of the Awami National Party said his party had already moved an adjournment motion on the Chaman border situation in the last session of the house, but it did not come under discussion as the session was adjourned due to lack of quorum.
