KARACHI, Sept 18: More than 500 houses and apartment buildings in Baghdadi union council areas of Lyari Town are getting contaminated water for the past two weeks. According to residents of the affected locality, drinking water mixed with sewege is being supplied to them for quite some time. However, situation has aggravated for the past two weeks and the authorities seem to be absolutely indifferent.

Reports of an acute water shortage have also been received from some parts of the town, including Baghdadi, Saifi Lane, parts of Shah Beg Lane and Darayabad union councils.

A social worker said the authorities were paying only lip-service to the water shortage issue. The affected people still depended on water takers, he added.
