ISLAMABAD: The capital reported 25 new cases of Covid-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total to 14,963.

So far, 165 patients have died and 12,377 have recovered. There are 2,421 active cases in Islamabad, administration officials said.

So far, the coronavirus has spread to 86 areas in the capital, while 17 areas do not currently have any active cases. The 36 patients who had been living in these 17 areas have recovered.

Seven cases were reported in G-9 on Wednesday, followed by three in G-7, two each in G-6, Bhara Kahu, Khanna and F-11, and one each in G-8, I-8, G-13, Alipur, I-9, F-7 and Tarnol. Of the new patients, 13 are male and 12 are female.

Seven patients are in the 10 to 19 age group, followed by five each in the 30 to 39 and 40 t0 49 age group, two each from the zero to nine, 20 to 29 and 70 to 79 age group and one each from the 50 to 59 and 60 to 69 age group.

Labs told to compile Covid-19 data during Eid holidays; 80 shops sealed in Rawalpindi division for violating lockdown

The capital administration has directed all laboratories operational in the city to compile data related to Covid-19 without delay.

Officials in the administration said that directives were issued from the office of the deputy commissioner, addressed to the focal persons of all public and private labs, for the Eidul Azha holidays.

The directives stated that focal persons from all public and private labs are directed to ensure the data entry of all PCR tests for Covid-19 on the Integrated Disease Information Management System portal every day without any deficiencies.

They must ensure the data entry is complete before 12am, the change of date, and should liaise and stay in touch with designated officials in the event of IT-related issues.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Hamza Shafqaat said the directions were issued for the Eid, so that data continues to be entered during the holidays.

Rawalpindi

Eight people were diagnosed with Covid-19 and 15 patients recovered in the Rawalpindi district on Wednesday.

The district has now reported 6,513 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 274 deaths and 5,916 recoveries.

Another 110 suspected patients are awaiting the results of their Covid-19 tests from laboratories in the city’s four government-run hospitals, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital and the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology.

There are also 153 patients admitted to these hospitals, while 170 are isolated in their homes.

Commissioner retired Capt Mohammad Mehmood told Dawn that the number of new Covid-19 cases is declining and the provincial government has directed for standard operating procedures (SOP) to limit the spread of the coronavirus to be implemented in public places and cattle markets.

He said 12 new cases were reported in the Rawalpindi division on Wednesday, including eight in Rawalpindi, two in Chakwal and one each in Attock and Jhelum.

He said that 39 patients have been discharged from hospitals in the division; 18 in Attock, 15 in Rawalpindi and three each in Chakwal and Jhelum.

Also on Wednesday, 80 shops were sealed in all four districts for violating the Punjab government’s lockdown. Of these, 72 were sealed in Rawalpindi, six in Chakwal and two in Jhelum.

“Teams from the district administrations of Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum imposed Rs124,500 [in fines] on violators and the administrations of four districts have been asked to implement the decisions of the provincial government strictly without any discrimination,” Mr Mehmood said.

The Regional Transport Authority impounded 18 vehicles and imposed Rs25,500 in fines for violations of SOPs by public transport. In addition, 54 vehicle owners were issued warnings.
