Big guns for memorial snooker

KARACHI, Sept 17: Country’s top eight cueists will take part in Karachi Club (KC)-Ian Fyfe Memorial snooker championship starting from Monday at Karachi Club. KC is organising the Rs100,000 event in remembrance of late Fyfe who was a sports reporter in daily Dawn. Fyfe passed away last month following an accident.

The prize basket of the three-day event includes Rs40,000 for the winner while the runners up will get Rs20,000.

The losing semifinalists would get richer by Rs10,000 each and the remaining four contestants will be awarded Rs5,000 each.

The players are divided into two groups and top two cueists from each group will play semifinals. Cueists taking part in the event are (Group A) former world champion Muhammed Yousuf, Abu Sain, Imran Shehzad, Sheram Chengazi (Group B) Pakistan No1 Saleh Muhammad, Naveen Perwani, Atiq Latif Bux and Khurram Agha.—PPI
