QUETTA: Senator Mir Hasil Khan Bizenjo has condemned the killing of social media activist Anwar Jan Khetiran in Barkhan and demanded immediate arrest of those involved in the crime.

In a statement, Mr Bizenjo said it was unfortunate that no concrete action had been taken by the government so far to arrest the culprits who silenced a voice that was highlighting “corruption” of the government.

He said Pakistan had become one of the most dangerous countries of the world for journalists, but rulers were doing nothing to provide protection and security to members of the journalist community.

“Powerful elements of the state, influential politicians and various criminal-minded people are behind the attacks on media people,” he said. He accused the government of silencing media people instead of resolving their problems.

“People are asking why kidnappers of Mr Matiullah Jan and killers of Mr Khetiran have not been arrested so far?” he said.

Mr Bizenjo pledged to raise the killing of journalist Mr Khetiran and problems of the journalist community at all forums.
