Road blocked after murder of minority community leader in Khuzdar

KHUZDAR: Protesting against the murder of a Hindu Panchayat’s head, members of the Hindu community and members of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal on Sunday staged a sit-in on the Khuzdar-Karachi highway, causing suspension of traffic on the road for several hours.

According to police, Hindu Panchayat head and local trader Nanak Ram was passing through a bazaar in Wadh area of Khuzdar district when unidentified men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him, leaving him critically injured. Ram received multiple bullet injuries. He was rushed to the district hospital of Khuzdar, where he died during treatment.

Carrying the body of Ram, the protesters on roads of the town and staged the sit-in on the highway.

The protesters dispersed after negotiations with Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Dr Tufail Baloch and SSP Saeed Gul Khan Afridi who assured them that people involved in the murder of the Hindu leader would soon be arrested.

A complete strike was observed in Wadh town in protest against the murder of Ram. All markets and business centers remained closed throughout the day.
