KARACHI: Moeena Hidayatallah, currently the honorary president of Pakistan Girl Guides Association, has recently been awarded the ‘Volunteer Medal of Service 2020’ by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

The award is the highest form of recognition of the organisation and is given to those individuals (volunteers or staff) who have distinguished themselves in their outstanding service to girl guiding and girl scouting at the national and global level.

“Her commitment to our movement has been shown globally during her period as a member and Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Committee, having provided training to commissioners and trainers from 17 of 23 countries of the AP region. Nationally, during her time as International Commissioner for 18 years for PGGA, she has demonstrated exceptional service to the movement having organised and participated in several different camps as a Camp Commander and Director,” says a WAGGGS statement.

Ms Hidayatallah has also been recognised for her work for the WHO immunisation project in 1986 and contribution to numerous finance and fundraising projects.
