Clarification

Published July 11, 2020

With reference to a story published in Dawn on July 10, 2020 titled ‘PTV Sports unlikely to telecast England series’, the PTV management has clarified in an official statement that PTV hasn’t negotiated with Sony Pictures India regarding sub-licensing of Pakistan’s tour to England.

“PTV has not approached PCB to help them acquire the rights of Pakistan’s tour to England 2020 since away series rights do not fall in their domain. Sony Pictures Network India, an Indian broadcaster that owns Tensports since 2016, has acquired rights from the ECB. The government of Pakistan’s policy of an embargo since September 2019 dealing with Indian companies is common knowledge. Making payments to Indian companies & accounts require special approvals at the ministerial levels.”
