Swedish city launches app to stop crowding at beaches

The Swedish city of Helsingborg launched a “treasure hunt” smartphone app to prevent congestion at tourist beaches by touting lesser known spots, according to AFP.

Named “Badplatsjakten” (the hunt for swimming spots), the app encourages sun worshippers to discover different bathing spots around the city and avoid crowding in the best known spots.
