RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Monday sealed 18 shops and markets, besides imposing a fine of Rs27,000 for violating SOPs for prevention of Covid-19.

Besides, the local police have arrested as many as 45 violators of government ban on gathering in Airport and Westridge police areas.

The Airport police arrested 35 people in a raid on a club where they gathered for smoking ‘sheesha’. 

The Westridge police arrested 10 people on charges of violating the SOPs.

Rawalpindi Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary Mehar Ghulam Abbas carried out inspection of public transport vehicles and found a number of violations of SOPs.

The RTA team impounded 41 vehicles and issued tickets to the owners of vehicles and imposed Rs 40,000 fines on them.
