HARIPUR: Two motorcyclists were killed and a factory worker was electrocuted in separate incidents, police said here on Friday.

Naveed, a resident of Kohala Paeyn village, was hit by a speeding truck while on way to Khanpur city from Haripur on a motorcycle. He was critically injured and was shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital, Khanpur. He succumbed to injuries while being shifted to Haripur Trauma Centre.

In the second accident, Abdul Waheed, 48, going towards Darwesh village on a motorcycle, was hit by a truck. He also died on the spot.

Meanwhile, additional SHO Mohammad Nazir Khan of Hattar police station said Atiqur Rehman, 40, a resident of Padahna village, was fixing a fault in a factory in Hattar Industrial Estate when he suffered electric shock and died on the spot.

Police quoted the co-workers as saying that the victim was not observing safety protocols.

Also in the day, a house was gutted in Kotnajibullah village, rescue sources and police said on Friday.

Police quoted Mohammad Miskeen of Mohallah Soka as saying that he had piled up dried wood in the courtyard of his house. However, the timber caught fire due to unknown reasons. He said Rescue 1122 and police personnel were called, who put out the flame.

There was no loss of life or injury reported.
