CHAGAI: A shutter-down strike was observed by people and traders here on Tuesday and all shops and markets remained closed in protest against the government plan to demolish shops and houses under a reconstruction plan of the government for Dalbandin.
The call for the strike was given by former provincial minister Sakhi Amanullah and traders of the area.
Some hotels, vegetable shops, tandoors, and medical stores were, however, allowed to stay open during the strike to serve needs of the people.
Traffic was also thin due to closure of shops and markets in the area. Members of police and Levies Force patrolled the area to avert any untoward incident.
Speaking at a press conference, Sakhi Amanullah Notezai said that under the government’s new master plan for the area, the front side of the Prince Fahad Hospital, three schools, civil sports club, a car parking lot and several shops worth billions of rupees would be demolished and there was no alternative plan for the affected shop owners and traders.
