MIRPURKHAS: A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly subjecting a seven-year-old girl, his relative, to criminal assault in an agricultural field near Bahawal Khan Lashari village a couple of weeks ago.

The girl was brought to the Mirpurkhas Civil Hospital for treatment of excessive bleeding and the doctor examining her found that she was criminally assaulted. Her mother told the police that her daughter had been taken to the locust-infested fields by a relative, whom she confidently identified, on May 29.

The girl’s condition was stated to have turned serious on Wednesday and she had to be admitted for treatment.

The mother said her daughter had never disclosed till today as to what she underwent that day.

MPA Syed Zulfikar Ali Shah of the area took notice of the incident when it was highlighted on the social media on Wednesday. He asked Mirpurkhas SSP Javed Baloch to investigate the matter and get the identified suspect arrested. Later, the police apprehended him for interrogation.
