LARKANA, Sept 11: A large number of people from different villages took out a procession here on Sunday in protest against arrest of ADP supporter Mohammad Panah Chandio. ADP candidate for the nazim post of Qambar taluka, Shahnawaz Chandio, local PPP leader Punhal Soomro and Irshad Lakho led the protesters.

They marched on different roads and held a sit-in blocking the main road for four hours.

The protesters chanted slogans against PML leader Nawab Shabbir Ahmed Chandio and SHO Manzoor Chandio.

Shahnawaz Chandio, a nephew of Nawab Shabbir Chandio and PPP leader Punhal Soomro joined the protesters.

The PPP leaders alleged that Mohammed Panah was implicated in a fake case of kidnapping at the behest of Nawab Shabbir Chandio.

They demanded withdrawal of the case and putting an end harassement of PPP workers. Police during the protest remained confined to police station.

PROTEST: People from seven villages of Qambar district protested outside the local press club on Sunday against damage caused to fertile land because of overflow of saline drains.

Mujahid Tunio, Shabbir Chandio and Habib Khoso led the protesters.

They alleged that due to barricades at different points in Scarp drain, the saline water had overtopped and devastated hundreds of acres of fertile land in vicinity of Sono Khan Chandio, Bair Sharif, Gailo Khoso, Abdul Wahid, Thorhi Sohrab and Thorhi Bijjar villages.

They demanded removing obstacles from the Scarp drain and saving the land.
