25 found to have coronavirus in Dadu

DADU: Twenty-five persons out of 122 whose samples were collected a couple of days ago were found to have coronavirus infection on Monday, raising total of Covid-19 patients in the district to 131.

Dadu DHO Dr Zahid Hussain Dawachh said that 30 out of 131 had already recovered. Among the new cases, 14, all members of a family, belonged to Sita Road, one to Johi, five hailed from Mehar and five from Dadu town.

He said the situation was becoming alarming in Sita Road where streets of Soomra locality had been completely sealed. So far, 1,250 tests had been conducted in Dadu district, he added.

17 test positive for virus in Sehwan

Seventeen more employees of Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical and Health Sciences in Sehwan tested positive for Covid-19, raising tally of infected staffers to 52.

The institute’s director Dr Moeenuddin Siddiqi said that the infected persons included male and female doctors as well. Besides, 36 members of general public had also been found to have the contagion, he said, adding further tests of the staff and general public were under way.

Meanwhile, Sehwan assistant commissioner along with DSP and policemen sealed six streets in Kehar Colony, Khosa Mohalla and Shahbaz Colony three days ago after increase in the virus infection.

SHIKARPUR: Twelve persons out of 70 whose samples were collected a day before tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday.

Health officials said that the 12 patients included a child, three women and eight men who had been quarantined at their homes. With the new cases, the tally of coronavirus patients reached 415 in the district, among them 402 cases of local transmission, they said.

SUKKUR: Two persons out of 68 whose samples were collected a couple of days ago tested positive for coronavirus in Jacobabad on Monday and the rest were found to have no infection.

Health officials said that with the new patients, total number of locally transmitted virus cases had risen to 173 in the district. The two infected persons had been isolated in their homes, they said.

Meanwhile, six more persons tested positive for coronavirus in Khanpur Mahar town of Ghotki district on Monday, raising the tally of Covid-19 patients in the town to 61.

Health officials told reporters that tests of 37 persons were carried out a few days ago and among them six were found to have the contagion. They had been isolated in their homes by health officials, they said.

They said that 10 persons including six members of a child specialist’s family defeated the virus at the end of their quarantine period at their homes. Health department had declared them fully recovered and allowed them to come out of quarantine, they said.

MIRPURKHAS: Two more undertrial prisoners tested positive for coronavirus at Central Jail Mirpurkhas on Monday.

Dr Farooque Abbasi, who was posted at the jail hospital, told reporters that the patients had been shifted to isolation ward in the prison.
