HYDERABAD: Keeping in mind the previous year’s experience, arrangements need to be made for rain emergency as climate change can lead to more rainfall.

This was observed by Commissioner Mohammed Abbas Baloch while presiding over a meeting on arrangements for rain emergency in his office on Thursday.

He directed Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fuad Ghaffar Soomro to form a task force that would remain in close contact with departments concerned to identify the problems to be addressed.

The task force, he said, would be directed to hold meetings with the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (Hesco) authorities for uninterrupted power supply during rains so that pumping stations and dewatering machines could work continuously and technical faults be removed immediately.

He directed officers to ensure that all pumping stations and machinery remain functional and ordered desilting of drains so that rainwater could drain out easily.

The commissioner instructed the DC to pay field visits and inspect arrangements regarding rains during the monsoon.
