LARKANA: A locally-made explosive device fitted in a bicycle went off on Monday at Mirokhan Chowk, but no damages or loss of life was reported.

Talking to Dawn, SSP Masood Ahmed Bangash confirmed that a device fitted in a bicycle parked in the area went off, but caused no damage. Another source said the bicycle was parked near an ice factory. The explosive material was packed in a tin of ghee.

Police and law enforcing agencies rushed to the spot and initiated a probe after collecting evidence, the sources said. Certain ball bearings were spotted and collected from the spot, but so far no suspects were arrested, said the SSP after visiting the spot. Police have impounded the bicycle, he said.

Four investigation teams were constituted for a probe, the SSP said, adding that FIR had been registered against some suspects at the Waleed police station.
