HARIPUR: Four people drowned in different water bodies in Haripur, police said on Wednesday.

Khanpur police said that the local divers recovered the bodies of two persons from River Harro, downstream Khanpur reservoir, on Wednesday.

They said that Asif Masood, 18, a resident of Tarlai Islamabad, was bathing when he slipped into the water. They said that body of Hamad, 19, a resident of Supply Bazaar Abbottabad, was found on the bank of the same river near Tarnawa village the same day.

The body carried no signs of torture, but the circumstances suggested that he was murdered after forced drowning and body was dumped on the side of the river.

However, the police said that cause of the death would be determined after the receipt of autopsy report.

In Ghazi tehsil, Ghulab 20, an Afghan refugee, drowned in Ghazi Barotha barrage. Rescue workers fished out his body after an effort of an hour. The fourth drowning incident was reported from Qaziyan village, where some boys were bathing in River Daur when one of them failed to maintain the balance and drowned.

His body was recovered after a search operation. The deceased was identified as Kashif, 14, a resident of Golra Rawalpindi. The deceased had come to spend Eid holidays with his paternal uncle.
