SHO martyred in Kohat gun attack on patrol duty

KOHAT: The SHO of Lachi tehsil city was martyred and his gunman injured by a gang of criminals during a routine patrol late on Friday night.

The criminals opened fire at SHO Nazar Abbas and his gunman Jasim Khan. The former died on the spot while the latter was shifted to the KDA hospital.

DIG Kohat division Tayyeb Hafeez Cheema and district police officer Mansoor Aman asked the police to take immediate action and bring the culprits to justice.

The Lachi police claimed that during an operation both the accused namely Munim Naveed and Abdur Rehman were killed.

The funeral of the martyred police officer was offered at the Fareed Hussain police lines and was attended by the DIG, the DPO, senior police officers and deputy commissioner Abdur Rehman.

He was presented a gun salute and laid to rest with full honours in Ustarzai village.

Meanwhile, the cantonment police arrested two accused involved in the murder of a young man, Adnan Gilani, who was killed three days ago.

The deceased had migrated from Afghanistan leaving a lucrative job and had started a farmhouse. His cousins killed him after a brawl over a property dispute. His father had nominated his nephews, Ahmed and Asad, in the FIR.
