KARACHI, Sept 7: The Edhi Foundation here on Wednesday carried out first ever drill involving different wings of its rescue service. Over 50 paramedics belonging to the Foundation’s air, land and sea rescue services took part in the seven-hour drill held at the Edhi Village to mark the completion of the training of the first batch of Edhi air paramedics, said a senior executive of the organization.

The objective for the joint drill was to evolve a better coordination between the three wings of the rescue service, Rizwan Edhi said. “Our paramedics are trained to maintain I.V. line and properly handle the injury cases in order to avoid unnecessary loss of blood,” he added.

In addition to over 30 ambulances, including the air ambulances (helicopter), the Edhi rescue service is fully equipped with all the pre-requisites of a modern rescue unit. “The primary aim of our paramedics is to shift any patient in a precarious condition to hospital in shortest possible time and a little possible loss,” he said.
