Prime Minister Imran Khan phoned National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser to inquire about his health after the latter was admitted to a hospital for "better healthcare", a statement by the National Assembly secretariat said.

Earlier, President Arif Alvi and Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa had also telephoned Qaiser to inquire about his well-being.

"Qaiser was admitted to a private hospital the other day to get better healthcare. The speaker is feeling much better now and will be discharged from hospital soon," the statement added.

The NA speaker had tested positive for the coronavirus on April 30.
